Another week, another photo assignment
You’ll notice a trend in my photo assignments. I spend very little time on the prep and rely on fruit, olives, booze and bread as my subject. Here is my thinking: if I’m gonna spend a lot of time cooking, I want to eat it — not play with it for an hour shooting like some blogger in a trendy restaurant (hey, wait a minute…)
There were a few shots that I didn’t submit due to technical flaws or not meeting the assignment very well — but I do love how they look. Great colors, and very reminiscent of my site design.

I love the composition of of this next picture, it feels like a party. Too bad the glare is a little harsh and there is a fingerprint on the glass (which you may not be able to see at this resolution). Also wondering why I didn’t top things off with a little bit of the Widow Cliquot?! I thought this would have been autonomous behavior, this photography stuff must really be screwing with me.

For those who made it this far and are curious, one of the assignment’s goals were to get some translucency and texture. Here was what I ultimately submitted, “Oranges and Beer – Breakfast of Champions”.
Photo info: Shot with Canon 7D, EFS 17-55mm 2.8, ISO 100, F/8, 1/5 sec. exposure.
Whew, all this blogging makes me want to grab me a cold one. I love being able to eat and drink the props!

What do you think? Is it time to retry my old nemesis Tastespotting? Anything “compelling” enough yet?
P.S. I know Blue Moon is a trendy non-beer drinkers beer, but I like it. After all, I’m a wine guy.
